Creating Artwork for Your
Custom License Plates
If you’d
like us to design your tags
First decide what plate type
fits your needs and budget. Then, to begin the artwork process, call us at 8 00-33 0-82 47 or
send email to:
Before contacting us, note that we sell tags starting at quantities of 15 and above — single plates not sold.
In most cases,
artwork is free.
Occasionally there are exceptions for custom artwork that is
complex (about one in ten cases). In that event, however, we
will give you pricing ahead of time for creating the artwork.
(Usually about $50 in such cases.)
Remember we are experts in mobile graphics. We design for maximum
visibility on an item that should be readable at a distance
and while moving. Count on us to suggest changes to the
ideas you may have for your design to make it the best it can be.
Within 3 business days we’ll have your custom tag artwork up on a web page for you to look at and review.
If you’ll be designing your own plates
We’re experts at designing
for legibility and clarity. But if you want to tackle the design
of your custom tags yourself, save the artwork
in an acceptable file format. The preferred format
is EPS, created by a vector drawing/ illustration
program such as Adobe Illustrator or CorelDraw.
(Saving or exporting to native Adobe Illustrator AI format is also fine.) Be sure to get the EPS-format tag template from our downloads page for the plate type you are ordering. Tag layouts submitted
using the template and that follow our artwork guidelines
qualify for a $50 order discount.
Other file formats we accept (though discount does not apply) are:
TIF, GIF, JPEG, or BMP. If
you use formats other than EPS or AI, a higher resolution
such as 300dpi (dots per inch) at a minimum, on up to 600dpi,
works much better than low-resolution images such as website
graphics saved at 72dpi. Don’t hesitate to call if
you have questions.
Also see our tag design tips for good visibility, legibility, and quick comprehension at a distance.
Custom artwork should be sent to us by:
- Emailing artwork to:
. Or
- Providing a web page for your organization
where we can view the artwork. (Web art is low-resolution,
and will likely need rebuilding or modification by us.) Or
- Mailing a CD with your artwork
to our offices (only necessary for the very largest files).
